I'm trying to make a smooth transition and grasp the wordpress stuff. It's GlennishaMorgan.Wordpress.com. Toodles!

This Morning

Wow. I had a ball early this morning during my radio show. This particular segment, When Did You First Fall In Love With Hip Hop, had the most listeners, callers, and chatters. The chat room was packed and people were straight clowning in there! It was all good though because I love to laugh. We had a few faked accents on the line. One from Atlanta and one from Iraq lol. Although, the clowning kept me rolling I am no longer going to answer blocked calls on the show. I also just learned that what the blocked calls show up as on the switchboard. It's funny because before today when I saw the blocked calls, I'd never answer them because I didn't know that they were real calls. On the switchboard blocked calls show up as 111-111-111 so I was always like wtf, and never paid attention to them. Anywho, like why block your number? It's not like I'mma write it down and call you later lol. I also like to see area codes so I have an idea of where people are listening to my show.(Big Ups to NY and the South I had a lot of listeners from NY and the South last night)Again the pranks were kind of funny but, some of the ignorance was just that. Pure ignorance and I will NOT tolerate that on the show. Say what you want in the chat room but, not on the air!

When I First Fell In Love With Hip Hop

DO NOT GET ENTERTAINMENT NEWS FROM YOUR PARENTS I SWEAR! I had decided to take my ass back to bed this morning and as soon as I got back in the bed my mom called me and said that she heard on the radio that Dr.Dre died. So I'm like what? I don't believe this. So of course I get out of the bed and get on my computer to do some investigating. What do you know, within about 1 minute I found out that Dr. Dre isn't dead. It's his son, Andre Young Jr. that was found dead. He was only 20 years old. That's really sad..... What's crazy is I honestly had shed a few tears after my mom had told me. I was like I know Dr.Dre isn't dead.My honey txted me asking why was I crying because I didn't know him, and he only made good music, it wasn't like he really stood up for anything, etc. So I explained, Dr. Dre along with Snoop, Warren G, Ice Cube, and Eazy E were like the first rappers that I started listening to and that West Coast rap holds a place in my heart. I was also pissed because I was waiting like everyone else for Dre to drop Detox (Duh)! What's crazy too is that I was in the third grade when Regulators, Gin & Juice, and all of those hot ass west coast singles came out. So I really wasn't at the age to truly appreciate the music. It wasn't until I got a little older and listened again to all of those old joints that I truly fell in love.... If anybody ever asks me what was my favorite concert that I've ever been to, I'll always reply with "The Up In Smoke Tour". That was the hottest fucking concert ever. Bare with me on the profanity. I'm getting really excited just typing about it lol. The headliners of that concert were Snoop, Dr.Dre, Ice Cube, and Eminem. Some others were MC Ren,Xhibit, etc. First off they come out on stage in this purple old school car. To my memory I believe it was on old Impala. They're hitting switches. I mean the whole West Coast vibe was just phenomenal and crazy. They did all of my favorite old joints. It was just great! That concert was actually a showcase of rappers actually PERFORMING! They didn't just stand on stage with an entourage and yell! That's what made it really dope. They also had the dopest props ever! Anyway to make a long story short, Dr. Dre, Snoop, Warren G, Ice Cube, Eazy E are reasons why I love Hip Hop! They are the first(AS FAR AS MALE RAPPERS) that my ears heard and actually paid attention to. Then later on it was Pac, Biggie, Nas, etc.

It's Finally Here

Ok. I know that Solo has gotten a lot of posts here this summer but, I guess it's simply because I love her! Anyway, today is the day! Go cop it. It's out.

Blogging While Bored, 5 Questions, 5 Answers

When I'm bored I do this kinda stuff. Since today is very slow and boring. Here goes. I stole this from Eb The Celeb.

1.What is your favorite song to have sex to?
I honestly don't have a favorite song to have sex to. I haven't did it with music playing in a long time Lol but, Jill Scott or Floetry would be just fine. Don't laugh but, also every once in a while I have an urge to do it to some rap but, not just any rap. I actually have a cd with specific rap joints that are smooth for sexing lol. One of them happens to be Twista- Get It Wet

2. What is your drag name ?
Drag Name? I don't know about that one. How about Suga?

3. In the film made of your life, who will play you?
This question is funny because EB actually chose the same person I would choose. My top choice would be Nia Long. I feel kind of bad because it's not based on her skills. I think she's the most beautifulest Black actress ever! She even tops Halle Berry in my book. (I love Halle but, I'll say this for any man or woman that thinks Halle is #1 you're nuts but, I'll save my other comments for a whole other post.) My second choice would be Angela Bassett. I don't think I'd even have to explain my reason for her. She's just awesome. My third choice would be Zoe Saldana. I don't know why but, I think she could play certain parts of my personality good. Also, I kinda thought of Brandy but, I don't know. Maybe.

4. What is one thing that you would change about yourself?
One thing that I'd change about myself is my social anxiety. I have actually been working on this for a while now but, I noticed yesterday that I think it's coming back. I don't know why but, I hate it.

5. What's your status message on your preferred social networking site?

myspace - Blogtalkradio.com/theinsomniahour is running specials this weekend for loc maintenance so get at me and get fresh! (BTW, since the weekend is officially over I'm no longer running specials but, you can still hit me up if you need dreadlock maintenance)

facebook - Glennisha is gonna do alumni cheer foreal this time, I miss cheerleading.

I So Want To Be There

Photobucket

I usually can afford to do at least one summer concert a year! So far this summer I haven't been to one because my pockets won't allow me too :( I really want to attend this one, especially since the summer is like officially over now. Especially, in Detroit because last night was cold as hell. Personally, I just really wanna see Nas, Keith Murray , and Rakim. I can do without Scarface, Busta, and Foxy. I know some people are probably like what, I'm crazy. I am NOT crazy about those 3 at all. Scarface's voice just always sounded so scary to me that I could never really give him a listen. Busta is cool but, just not a favorite of mine. Foxy, I never was a huge fan of her either. Although,I'd love to see her and Nas do an old joint tho for old time sakes. Too bad, AZ cant' make a cameo so they can do Phone Tap! Also, Nas is my favorite rapper and he's only been to "The D" a few times, and I've never had a chance to catch him so I do NOT want to miss this opportunity. For all of those people who says that Nas is dried up (including my honey) screw you because I still love Nas, he's still #1 in my book, Anywho, if anyone would like to donate me tickets this event I'd blow you a million kisses! Even if I can't get tickets, I think I'mma chill out on the grass. Yes! That's how we do it in Detroit. When concerts are at Chene Park and for whatever reason you can't get tickets, you bring a chair and chill outside on the grass! The sound is so great you can still enjoy everything! It would also be tight as hell if I had a nice boat because Chene Park is right off the river and if you have a boat you can actually like park right behind the stage and enjoy!...........

Death, Premonitions, and Such

Today is the day that Aaliyah died 7 years ago. Wow, I swear it doesn't seem like that long ago. Anywho while my cousin was over today we discussed Aaliyah's death then we moved over to Left-Eye's death. My cousin told me that she saw this video a long time ago of Left-Eye saying that she had premonitions, she knew she was going to die, and that when she ran over that little boy she was actually suppose to die, not the boy. She stated that some spirit was following her. I honestly don't believe in spirits and I also believe that Left- Eye was a little mental after watching several videos of her on YouTube. (I saw this one video where she had cut hate in all capital letters into her arm.) After finding out that Left-Eye claimed she had premonitions of her death it also made me think about Tupac . I started to think like wow it must be really weird to have premonitions of your own death. It also made me question like maybe people who have those so-called premonitions and believe that they are going to die soon or young just want to die, or either they're just really scared of death so much that they dream about it. Also, as far as people who live certain type of lifestyles (Gangbangers, Drugdealers, Murderers, etc.) death automatically becomes like an option for them. Maybe option isn't he right word choice but, it kind of like an option that's a part of that lifestyle. So most of those type of people know that it's HIGHLY possible they're going to die. So having premonitions about it is kind of like nothing special. I myself have had several nightmares of me dying several different ways but, I do NOT think that I'm going to die anytime soon. I've probably had about 6 different dreams of me getting shot. I've also had one or two dreams of me getting hit by a train. Again, I don't think I'm leaving this earth anytime soon. I also happen to hope and think that I'll leave here at a very old age after I've watched my children have children and my husband and I have lived full and fulfilling lives. Also, after watching this video that was recorded right before Left Eye died. It made me feel kind of weird. Like, what if I had a chance to record my very LAST seconds on earth. Wouldn't that be crazy and kind of weird. I also found it weird that Left-Eye actually went to Honduras for enlightening and change and then ended up dying. Anyway, I'd just like to know other people's opinions on death and premonitions. Feel free to share.

See This is What I'm Talking About

Now, my blog is no way a blog to just dog or hate on folks but, this post is kind of a like a part two and response to some comments made on my post What is the big deal? THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. STRAIGHT BUSTED! LOOK AT SERENA CLOSELY! THIS IS WHAT SHE LOOKED LIKE ATTENDING THE US Open USTA/Heineken Premium Light Official Players Party on the rooftop of NY’s Empire Hotel THIS WEEKEND. SHE LOOKS LIKE SOMEBODY'S TIRED GRANDMA. WAIT SHE LOOKS LIKE A 40YEAR OLD GRANDMA WHO IS TIRED OF TAKING CARE OF HER 16 AND 17 YEAR OLD'S KIDS. SO SHE SAID I'MMA TRY TO FIND A MAN TONIGHT. LMAO! THE DRESS SCREAMS GRANNY!AGAIN, WHAT MEN SEE IN HER LORD I DO NOT KNOW! SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND! ALSO, I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS WAS A OPEN USTA PARTY BUT DAMNIT WHY MUST SHE ALWAYS LOOK LIKE SHE JUST CAME OFF THE TENNIS COURT, THREW ON SOME CLOTHES, AND DIDN'T SHOWER??? WHY?

A Quote

I happened to run across a quote this morning from George Bernard Shaw, "Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself."........I really like this quote and I think it's true. People sometimes have this whole notion of finding themselves but, do we really find ourselves? I don't think so. I mean as life goes on and we get older we find out exactly what we like and what we don't like but, I think we kind of already know this stuff but, sometimes we just don't acknowledge it or pursue the things that we like. Even though most people go through growing phases where they change and sometimes stop doing things that they use to do or stop believing in what they use to believe in, we all have choices. So we choose to change, grow, evolve, etc. Therefore we create ourselves or who we want to be perceived as.

I So Hate My Uterus and Ovaries Right Now

I am really hating my uterus and ovaries right now. I'm not really into sharing things that are really personal but, I don't mind sharing this because I know a lot of women suffer from this. I happen to have a cyst on my left ovary, which causes me to have very painful periods and even now I have cramping when I'm not even on my cycle. It's very frustrating and irritating. Before I even knew that I had a cyst I complained to my general physician about my cramping and he put me on Naproxen. Naproxen didn't work at all. I found myself taking like 2-3 pills at a time and it still didn't help. I would spend days in bed because of the pain. I eventually found out that Naproxen had given me an ulcer and I could no longer take it. So I went to OBGYN begging her to do everything that she needed to do to find out why my cramps were so severe. I also informed her that my mother had tons of cysts and fibroid tumors on her uterus that were so bad she had to get a hysterectomy. I also informed her that a cousin of mine had ovarian cancer at 16 year old so I was very worried and scared. My OBGYN scheduled me for an ultrasound. That's when I found out that I had a cyst on my left ovary. When I found out that I had the cyst my OBGYN immediately put me on birth control to reduce the cramps, and the possibilities of growing more cysts. The birth control that I was first on was Lo-Estren. I'm not sure if I'm spelling it right but, it worked wonders as far as cramping. My cramps had ceased completely while I was on Lo-Estren. My periods were also very light and I was loving it. The only problem was that I couldn't handle the side effects. Almost everyday I was feeling nauseated. I had headaches and a number of other problems so I asked my OBGYN to switch my pills. She then put me on Yaz. I'm still on it. Yaz isn't doing a damn thing for me. I have cramps and each month their worse and worse. I hadn't had any cramps when I wasn't on my cycle until I was on Yaz. So I'm like randomly having cramps throughout the month. My cycles are regular and too heavy for me to be on birth control. Now, I want my OBGYN to switch my birth control again. I'm a little worried about switching birth control numerous time but, I absolutely can NOT go through this severe cramping again. Now I am aware that for some odd reason ovarian cysts and fibroid tumors are very prevalent in Black women. So far there has been no research done that has proved why. I was also listening to Monique's radio show the other day and cysts and fibroids were the topic. She had her OBGYN on the line and she also stated she had no idea why this is so prevalent in Black women. I would like to why is it prevalent in women period and especially Black women. Now I know nothing about conducting medical surveys but, I would like to do some research and try find out something. I would like to know if this can be linked to food that we eat because what we eat actually does play a huge part in a lot of things that is wrong with us. I would also like to know if this can be linked to things we are breathing in the air. Maybe it's products we use on our hair. I don't know but, I'd like know why. BTW, the pictures are just random pictures I found on the internet they aren't pictures of my uterus. I hope mine doesn't look like that. I feel sorry for women whose uterus does look like that.

Be Comfortable In Your Own Skin

Check out my latest Think Girl column. You can read it here.

Gweni Poo Had a Boy

I know you're probably like who the hell is Gweni Poo! LOL. I kind of make up nicknames for some of my favorite music artists and celebrities. So Gwen Stefani's nick name is Gweni Poo. Don't you just love her?.....I'm not really into the whole celebrity prego news but, I'm only posting this because it's my girl Gwen. So again, Gwen Stefani just had a boy! He's her second child. She named him Zuma Nesta Rock. Zuma Poo weighed 8 lbs and 5 ounces.

From One Writer to Another

You guys know that I get really excited when I see people making it happen. Especially, when they have some of the same goals and dreams as I do. When I witness the success of others I get really inspired and I also get a burst of energy to get on my shit. I just received an email regarding a book release celebration for Monica Marie Jones. So congrats on your new release girl! She's also a writer from Detroit, that I had the wonderful opportunity to meet and interview earlier this year. Her new release is titled Floss.
If you'd like to find out more information about this book you can check out her myspace page. It's also on Amazon. I would put the info to her celebration on here but, I'm not sure if it's an open event or not. I'm assuming that it is because most writers want any and everybody to know about their work but, to be safe I won't post it. If I find out that it is in fact an open celebration then I'll post the info closer to the date! Again, congrats Monica! Keep pushing the pen.

Great News For Solo Fans

For all of you Sol-Angel and The Hadley Street Dreams fans check out the listening party on Interscope. I've already heard the majority of the album and what I've heard so far I absolutely love it to death. I could like kiss Solange for putting this album out. It's such a breath of fresh air and listening to her just makes me vibe and write songs of my own. I think I know what album will be getting me through completing my book too.

So far my favorite tracks are:

T.O.N.Y.
6 O'Clock Blues

Yah Biiish Yah!

Ok. Like am I the only one noticing the tabloids being nice to Britney Spears now? I was in Walmart a few days ago helping my little sister shop for school supplies and when we got to the checkout I noticed that the tabloid magazines actually had nice things to say about Britney. Also today I noticed that MSN's Celebrity Buzz had some positive coverage of Brit. Like 5 minutes ago they were all dogging her and aiding to her demise. I'm just thinking if I was Britney Spears I'd tell them all in the words of Soulja Boi, "Yah Bitch Yah! Get Out My Face! Get Out My Face" LMAO!

Website Update

I took a few minutes out today to update my website. So feel free to check it out!
You can view it here or on the check it out link.

I'm Sick of Bullshit Journalism

If you guys didn't know, initially Journalism was my major until I changed it to Communications but, I am still a journalist at heart. I've been writing every since my elementary school started a newspaper. So far in my collegiate career I've taken enough journalism and ethics classes to know what's real journalism and what isn't. I know this stuff goes on all of the time but, it still pisses me off when I see it. I just want to write newspapers like WTF? Didn't your staff take some of the same classes that I did?.............I did my DAILY reading today of the Detroit Free Press and on the front page there is an article regarding our Wayne County prosecutor and how her house is in foreclosure. Like this isn't fucking news people! Who gives a fuck? All I'm concerned about is how Kym Worthy is going to prosecute my no good for nothing ass mayor. I could care less about her personal business and I'm sure a lot of other readers feel the same. So SMH to the Detroit Free Press! Now if they want to continue to publish bullshit news like this then I'd suggest they add a gossip blog to their website.

Just Because I'm a Clown

I saw these posted on the Detroit Free Press Website so I decided to poke fun and post them here too. I actually saw the first two before some where but, the last stop sign one is brand new to me. What's funny is this stop sign is located not too far from where I use to live. LOL Don't mind the busted windows in that abandoned warehouse. I use to stay in a loft down the street from the building and the whole area was an old industrial area but, the loft was really nice (cosmetically, the owners weren't).

Kickin' It With F.U.

Tomorrow morning I'll be kicking it with F.U. on "The Insomnia Hour". If you didn't know F.U. is the author of one of my favorite blogs, YeahISaidItAndWhat.Blogspot.com. She also has her own radio show called "The F.U. Hour". So don't miss this show! It's Wednesday, Aug 20th at 1AM Est. You can tune in by logging onto BlogTalkRadio.com/TheInsomniaHour. If you want to call in and talk to us live then call 718-506-1988. You can also hit us up in the chat room. Again, don't miss this show because you're in for a treat. We will be talking about everything under the sun! If you want to know all of the juiciest juice in the celeb and entertainment world, F.U. is the person to go to! Her "taking no hostages and holding no prisoner" personality will also have you rolling! So don't miss this!

Whatever

It's crazy how things never tend to go how you want them to. I use to tell myself to stop expecting stuff and just go with the flow because 9 times out of 10 things will NOT go how you expect them to. That's fine too because it's just called life. I'm seriously about to stop getting bent out of shape about things. Especially the ones that I have no control over. For instance, I had been gone since Friday then I came home last night to some of my things moved without my prior knowledge. Nothing irks me more than to come home to my shit being moved without me even being notified. Especially business shit. Then when stuff comes up missing nobody knows what the fuck happened. Usually, when this happens I'll bitch and cuss for about a good 10-15 minutes to make it known that I'm pissed. Last night was different. I asked about my stuff, got my answer, grabbed my ipod, and took my ass in the basement until I cooled off. What's funny is all it took was that little amount of time, some music, isolation, and then I was fine. Until the next morning I realized that more of my shit was missing. Again, I didn't pitch a fit like I use to. It's like why? Why get more upset than what I already am. My shit still wasn't going to magically reappear so fuck it. Whatever! Also, why do other people get all bent out of shape about your business? Like I know some people care about you, especially family but, if they don't have to walk in your shoes why care? Also, if I'm not bent out of shape about something I have to deal with why get your blood pressure all up? It makes no sense at all. Well I wont say that because I know some people just really care and get worried but, if I'm not worried then I don't want anyone else to worry. I honestly can't worry about shit because it's not healthy for me mentally. I know how I can get. I'm not trying to go there so therefore I'm going to be nonchalant as hell. Not to the point to where nothing matters but, I'm not gonna be getting bent out of shape over life.

M.I.A. Linked To Terrorist Group: Terrorism Smerrorism

Thanks to Clutch for this info but, it's really nothing new to me. A Sri Lankan/American hip-hop artist named DeLon, questions M.I.A. for using images that represent the terrorist group, The Liberation Tiger Tamils of Eelam (LTTE). Now I'm not going to sit up here and say that I know a whole lot about LTTE besides what I read on wikipedia but, I will say this: a lot of groups or organizations that are labeled as terrorists are simply groups who are fighting for their country, their people, their freedom, and for what's right in their minds. The Black Panthers were labeled as terrorists and they were just doing for their people what the government wouldn't. Now,I'm not just a person who listens to music for the beats. When I listen to music I listen to EVERYTHING! I listen to the beats, the instruments, the lyrics, and I even listen out for samples. I pay attention to ad libs and again pretty much everything. When I first heard M.I.A.'s music I already knew that she was a freedom fighter. A lot of her lyrics are what people would call radical. I absolutely have no problem with it. I actually love it. Her lyrics and choice to speak out about a lot of world issues and issues in her country are actually a huge part of why I like her, besides the fact that she's just cute, unique, her own person, and her songs make my head bob. I wouldn't say that these accusations are far fetched but, I'm not going to stop listening to her music either.

My Brush With Death Last Night

WARNING! DO NOT CONTINUE TO READ IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH OR YOU CAN'T HANDLE BLUNTNESS LOL.

If you guys didn't know I do NOT eat pork or beef. The only type of meat that I usually consume is chicken, turkey, or fish. I've been contemplating going vegetarian since forever now but, I haven't quite made that transformation. I honestly don't think I will. Well people my mother had purchased some frozen white castles about a month ago from the grocery store which my greedy ass decided to have a taste even though I hadn't eaten beef in about maybe 6 or 7 years now. Sidenote:These packaged frozen White Castles come in twos. While over my mom's house I'd warm me up some and magically my stomach agreed. I had no problems. Last night on my way home my honey and I decided to stop at White Castles. I figured since I had the frozen White Castles with no problem that I'd be fine ordering White Castles from the actual place. I was starving so I ordered 4 Cheeseburgers along with some cheese sticks. When I got home I took the very fresh and warm WCs out of the bag and devoured each and every one of my 4. I was honestly full around 2 but, I proceeded to smash the other 2 because I absolutely hate waisting food. I think after I ate I curled up in some covers, and got a lil zzz on the couch while I was supposed to be watching Cool Runnings. Once the movie went off I proceeded to hop in the bed. Maybe about an hour later I woke up and my stomach was hurting. I immediately felt the need to puke. So I rushed into the bathroom and yea I puked. I puked twice. All I saw was devoured White Castles and the cheese chunks from the cheese sticks. I'm quite sure you guys already know what else I did. So I don't have to mention that but, can you imagine doing that and throwing up. Like I was really fucked up. I felt like I was going to absolutely die. So yea that's what I get for being greedy and trying to devour 4 White Castle burgers knowing damn well I don't even eat beef. I definitely now have no desire to start eating beef again as well as White Castles. So all I will have is those childhood memories when White Castles use to be good and didn't make me almost die. What sucked the most too is that those White Castles were good as hell. They were fresh and hot. Oh well. It's chicken, turkey, and fish for life.

Hottest Weekend in Detroit

This is the hottest weekend in Detroit! Do you want to know why? It's the hottest because two of my most favorite Detroit events take place this weekend. That is the "Dream Cruise" and the "African World Festival". For those of you that aren't from Detroit and aren't familiar with the "Dream Cruise", it is a day where you'll see nothing but classic and old school cars cruise up and down one of our main streets, Woodward Ave. Yes! Glennisha loves old school cars. I think most of all I enjoy seeing old Monte Carlos, Cultlass, Mustangs, and pretty much anything else that catches my eye. I always said that one day I am going to purchase myself a 1985 Monte Carlo. I'll probably get it painted a bright pink. I don't know about rims and all of that because I'm scared of getting robbed LOL. If I don't get an 85 I'd like to get whatever year the Monte Carlo was that Denzel was crusing in when he played in Training Day. That Monte was out cold! I guess I am a Motor City girl at heart since I'm attracted to old school cars.

Now as far as the African World Festival I love the music, the food, and the really good deals on t-shirts and purses lol. I'm particularly interested in Ethiopian food, which never seems to make it's way to the festival. I don't know why (sigh). Since I can't ever find Ethiopian food at the festival I know that I can for sure find some Jamaican food. I'm talking about jerk chicken, fricassee, beans & rice, and plantains. Yeaaa Baby! I guess I should be honest. What I look forward to the most is food! Yea I'm greedy so what! Now I haven't made it down there yet. It's like 5:30 right now. I didn't get up until 2:30 and I'm still trying to shake being lethargic but, I'll get there. I think I'll probably hit up the African World festival tomorrow since it's the last day and that's when you can the best deals. The vendors tend to bargain a lot more on the last day. Also,I know I'll catch a glance at Woodward later on.

Openess & Sexuality

I just learned about Fatman Scoop and his wife Shanda's podcast! It's really really funny and entertaining. While searching through episodes I found this one, where his wife has a "ladies night out", which was filled with nothing but, pure openess and gushing on sex. I absolutely love conversations like these. Not that I'm that open to sit in a group and air all my shit like that but, I just think that openess like this is so cool. I think that people should be a little more open and comfortable because discussions like these just seem so taboo or not that they are taboo people are just so judgmental so convos like this don't take place. I think we need to be less judgmental and if we were people wouldn't be so scared to talk and gush. So check it...

And The Birds Start Singing...

It's about time Christine Beatty came to her senses! I can bet you any amount of money that the presence of Kwame Kilpatrick's wife, Carlita in court the other day pushed this decision. Beatty has now said that she will testify against Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick as long as she gets immunity. I guess Beatty says she's tired of being the other woman LOL! This is extremely hilarious to me but, I am glad that Beatty finally woke up and smelled the coffee. If I was her I would tell it all! (source)

Musiq Gets Crunk???

Now Musiq Soulchild is one of my favorite artists. I love me some crunk music but, I never would have expected it to come from my boy Musiq. I guess I'm just use to the music that he regularly produces but, also like Jill Scott said you don't have to be put into a box!

What Is The Big Deal???

I got tired of reading the many rants and raves in the blog world regarding Beyonce's Loreal ad and now Serena's Men's Health cover. Anybody that knows anything about photography knows that a raw picture is almost never used for anything, especially when it comes to magazine covers, spreads, and ads. So what is the big damn deal about Beyonce's Loreal Ad and Serena Williams Men's Health Cover? I know Black folks may feel offended about lightening a Black woman's skin or slimming down her curves but, people it's done all of the time. It's a part of photography. Thats what goes on when it comes to modeling. It's called editing and retouching. Black models aren't the only ones getting this done to their pictures people. Also, I'll be brutally honest Serena and her sister ALWAYS looks hit to me. I honestly don't see what men see in them, besides their so called muscular body I guess. When I saw her photos for Men's Health I thought this was the best the sista's ever looked in my book. She looks absolutely fabulous. So whatever editing they did, it did Serena some major justice. They need to do it all the time because again Serena always looks busted. I know some men aren't going to agree with me but, whatever. Also, as far as the Beyonce ad has anyone ever thought about the fact that Beyonce tans and wears bronzers. Beyonce is fair skinned. Look at her mother Tina, and even her nephew Juelz. Her creole heritage definitely shows in her family. So when you see pictures of Beyonce looking her true color people get nervous and think she's been photoshopped. I don't because Beyonce has never been brown skin besides when she's airbrushed, bronzed, or tanned. So get a grip people. Again, when you see Bey looking all brown and bronzed it's called MAKEUP and it's also called " I got millions of fucking dollars so I stay at the beach getting tanned". Another thing is anything that Beyonce's face is on is going to sell so they don't need to do anything to her face to gain dollars. Also, Beyonce has been modeling for Loreal for a long time now, like do you actually think all of a sudden they're going to try to purposely lighten her as if she's too dark? Come on now! Did anyone ever think that maybe in all of Bey's old ads for Loreal she was wearing a bronzer or something? Loreal is a makeup company! Anywho, you can use a picture of Beyonce on her worst day and shit is still going to sell so, I'll just say this Black folks don't get your panties and drawers in a bunch so fast without thinking about all of the factors. I know because of everything we've went through as a race we can sometimes be a bit nervous, suspicious, and a bunch of other stuff but, sometimes it's just really not that deep.

Check it Out....

A blog sister of mine, Skinny Black Girl has just revamped her online magazine, Polished Cleveland. It's dope as hell. Even if you aren't from Cleveland you have to check this out! You all know that I'm a journalism and media fanatic. So I try to stay on top of new magazines and such, especially the really fly ones. This one, I like, I like! The graphics are super duper dope! I just love the entrepreneur section! I'm an entrepreneur so I gotta love that. BTW, Detroit needs one of these magazines. We need something like this to spruce us up and focus on the positive. You can check this out by clicking on the picture or by just typing http://www.polishedcleveland.com/ into your web browser. Big ups to Skinny Black Girl for this mag! I'm really looking forward to seeing this venture blow through the roof!

I Just Love Solo

Ok. So Solange was performing in DC at the Stone Soul Picnic over this past weekend and out of no where a man just walks up on stage and started straight clowning lol. Security rushed over to walk him off but, Solange hollered "Let him stay". She then pulled him towards her and started shaking what Tina gave her. Then security tried to get him off stage again and Solange says "He aint hurting nobody" and keeps going on with the show. She even asked the audience to give it up for him at the end. Cute! I like to see artists not all stuck up. Somebody else probably would have started tripping and made big deal out of ole dude. I guess it was all of out love and fun!

Thanks to Necole Bitchie for this one.

More Detroit Embarrassment

Ok. So I was just reading a post at one of my favorite blogs, The P.O.S.H. Life and I ran across this flier from an old party here in Detroit that stated Light Skin Women get free entry all night and that it was a "Light Skin Libra Birthday Bash. I was hella embarrassed to go to this blog and see this flier that was from my hometown. When I first saw it I noticed the club, "The Apt", which I knew we had one in Detroit but, I didn't think it was the one in Detroit. Then I noticed the address and was like damn! How fucking embarrassing. I'm not even sure if the author of Posh is from "The D". If the author isn't and found that flier I'm even more embarrassed. I know that the whole light skin vs. dark skin issue still exists in the Black community as well as other ethnicities as well but, I don't even give it any air time because it's non-existent in my life. I usually don't even fully read posts pertaining to the issue because I feel like it's so old and ignorant but, I guess it's still relevant in some people's lives. For me to see this flier, only dated back to 2007, all I can say is wow. I can't believe someone would actually host a "Light Skin" party and base free entry off of skin color. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall at this event just to see how many people went for that mess. I know a lot of people actually did and fell into the whole "I'm light skin act". So sad. I never really liked "The APT" anyway because it was too small and the parties held there were just not "my type". It's actually called "Club Pure" now. I'm not sure if it's under management or what. This club always has a new name like every year but, I will never be back there for the simple fact that the owner would even condone of party of such ignorance and mess. I'm sure a lot of people thought it was out of pure fun but, please. I can't imagine myself getting to the door and possibly one of my friends getting in for free and then they tell my brown-skin ass "oh you have to pay you're not light skin". It would honestly bring back years of pain that my race has went through. Knowing myself I'd probably protest, make a scene, and tell everyone not to go in just like I did at the IHOP on Jefferson a few years ago when a young Black man that was in front of me was searched but, a white man that went in before him wasn't. Yes yall. I said searched at IHOP. That's how it is in Detroit. You can't even have pancakes and eggs for breakfast without being frisked. I still can't believe that incident even took place at IHOP. The security guard wasn't white either, he was Black. That makes it even worse. Anywho, I'm suppose to be working and this bit of ignorance has gotten me off track, so now I'll get back to it.

Thanks to everybody who tuned in to my show this morning for the dedication to Bernie Mac & Isaac Hayes! Thanks to everyone who called in as well. It's greatly appreciated and it makes the show a better show. Without you it would be boring lol. I get bored on air too yall, when I don't get callers. I still can't believe Bernie is gone. It's crazy. I guess when someone is your favorite even if you haven't met them or if you don't know them personally it really hurts. Like I actually cried yesterday and today while watching some old clips on youtube. I kind of debated playing a lot of Bernie's clips on the show because of the vulgar language but, I was like what the hell! I've never had a chance to see him live and I never will be able to so fuck it. "I ain't scared of you muthafuckas"...........This was suppose to be a thank you post and I'm still ranting and raving about the loss but, it's all good. R.I.P. I also want to say Thank You for the readers here because we are past the 2000 mark! Thanks to everyone who actually comments too! I love comments! They let me know if anybody really gives a damn about what I write lol. Thanks for hitting up the shout box too! It really means a lot to me. It also keeps me going. Sometimes I think like "nobody's reading this crap" but, you guys do and it makes me feel good. Also, later on today I will be a guest on "The F.U. Hour"! So tune in at 8:00pm EST ( http://blogtalkradio.com/thefuhour). If you have questions or comments you can call in at (347) 215-9949. Shout out to my girl F.U. over at "Yeah I Said It And What". Unbelievable Weekend

I feel a little better today but, I swear this weekend was real funky .I just found out that we lost Isaac Hayes this weekend as well. What is really good? We lost two very talented men this weekend. Isaac was 65 years old. He was found unresponsive near a treadmill and was pronounced dead an hour later at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. The cause of death is unknown at this time.

Huhhhhhhhhhhh

What an emotional freakin weekend. It's Saturday but, I'm ready for this weekend to end. Not that weekends mean anything to me anymore because I make my own schedule but, I'm really not digging this one at all. Friday was boring and sad. Saturday began with the sadness from Saturday, then even more once I heard about Bernie Mac, then after that I found out that my Grandmother had to be admitted back to the hospital. My emotions are all over the place right now and I'm trying my best not to make my way to the gas station for cigs. I'm sick of being in the house. I'm sick of my current situation. I'm sick of fake ass family and friends. Right about now, I'm sick of crying. 2 days in a row. This is NOT good. I'm trying to fight it but, depression is starting to kick in. I guess I'll be back underneath my covers avoiding the world....So if ya don't hear from me, you know why...

Very Sad Day

I already had a very sad night and this morning I woke up to find out that one of my favorite comedians, Bernie Mac is dead. He died at 50 years old in Chicago's Northwestern Hospital. He had been hospitalized for pneumonia but, his cause of death has not been confirmed.Mac had sarcoidosis ,which is a chronic disease that can inflame tissue, particularly in the lungs. His publicist, Danica Smith said that his pneumonia was unrelated to his sarcoidosis and it had been in remission since 2005. I am extremely upset and sad. This man was welcomed in my living room on several occasions back to back. "The Bernie Mac Show" was extremely hilarious. Bernie's voice alone and demeanor made me laugh. Bernie Mac was my favorite of "The Original Kings of Comedy". Much love to Steve Harvey, Cedric The Entertainer, and D.L. Hughley but, Bernie Mac was The Orignal King of Comedy! He will truly be missed!

Florida Man Threatens to Kill Obama

The man that threatened to assassinate presidential hopeful was held without bail in Florida on Thursday because he threatened to kill Senator Barak Obama as well as President George W. Bush. His words were,"If he gets elected, I'll assassinate him myself. Obama would be the first black U.S. president if elected." A witness also said that he overheard him saying he hated Bush and wanted to put a bullet through his head. Police found an ample cache of ammunition, including armor piercing bullets, and a handgun in his sport utility vehicle and the Miami hotel room where he was staying while attending a bail bondsman's course. BTW, It is legal to possess armor-piercing bullets in Florida. He was arrested by the secret service in Miami,Florida. (source)

Well I knew this was coming. I think we all knew that some idiot would do this. It's NOT at all a surprise to me although, it's very sad.

Shut Up and Sit Down

Ok. I don't like to judge but, after watching Keyshia Cole's reality show and reading different news regarding her and her family I've came to conclusion that Neffie and Frankie seem to like to live off of Keyshia's fame. Now, I know they were on her reality show so that does make them reality celebs now but, truly if it wasn't for Keyshia NOBODY would know who the hell they were. Also, I'm aware that they do get paid for doing those reality shows but, I'm quite sure that the majority of the money that they spend is Keyshia's. That's cool too. If I was rich I'd most definitely look out for fam, my mother especially. If I was Neffie or Frankie (especially Neffie because she has little ones) I'd be using my connects and my sister's pull to do something for myself. Like instead of eating off Keyshia's plate why not use the money from the show to start your own business? Whatever talents they have they should use them to the best of their abilities because they definitely can get some strings pulled now. One of the reasons that Keyshia moved Neffie is was so that she could get on her feet and get herself together for her children...The way that Neffie and Frankie act just makes me want to say how about yall just get jobs of your own and stop stunting off of Keyshia's ends.... You know what I could be wrong, maybe their trying to do the "New York (Flavor of Love) thing. She pretty much acted as crazy as possible and landed her own show. So maybe that's what they're trying to do. Maybe they think if they keep clowning they'll land their own show??? I don't know but, I just got a hold of this video of Keyshia leaving a restaurant and Neffie and Frankie pretty much purposely staying afterward to give the Paparazzi's a show. It's quite clear too that Frankie was drunk! I mean she said," I Fuck With Dinosaurs that's why my bones are small". That has had to be the funniest shit I've ever heard in my life!... I'm going to have to give Neffie and Frankie the "Shut up and sit the fuck down" award because they're are truly camera and attention whores.

Here's the video of Keyshia leaving...

Here's the video of Neffie and Frankie straight clowning...

Thanks to Blackarazzi.com for these.

Don't Drop The Soap Kwame!

I woke up this morning to find out that my mayor has landed himself behind bars! I'm glad about it because he is a person that's extremely arrogant and thinks nothing will happen to him just because he's the mayor. I would have thought that this retard would have learned his lesson from the assault incident but, it's obvious he didn't. He violated his bond by taking a trip to Windsor, Canada (I just went last night, had a blast! LOL) without informing the judge and getting consent! He claims he went to try to seal the "tunnel deal" because he didn't want to lay off 1,000 city workers. Whatever Kwame! You're an arrogant fuck and you think your invincible. Enjoy your concrete slab! Now, of course Mr. Kilpatrick will be tomorrow morning's topic on my radio show, The Insomnia Hour! So Detroiters, Michiganders, Americans, Politicians, etc. Call in and comment (718)506-1988. BlogTalkRadio.com/theinsomniahour. This Friday at 3AM EST.

Monica's The Single Premiers Tonight

My girl, Monica's new reality tv show premiers tonight. Hopefully I don't forget about it because I really want to see it. Monica has been my girl ever since, "Miss Thang" and I still bump that album as if it's brand new. The only thing is I believe that this Peachtree TV network is only in ATL and surrounding areas. So hopefully they'll air it online! If not I guess I'll have to catch it on YouTube!

Self Update

Lately, I've been busy, busy, busy. I'm so happy that I am, though. It's much needed and so is the cash flow!Things are starting pick back up speed again. My hair clientele has extremely increased and has been getting my insomniac ass up very early in the morning so the night owl stuff is slowly dwindling. I've picked up a few new writing clients as well that I'm grateful for. I also picked up a new graphic design client! I still have my other writing commitments as well. I'll admit I've fallen short in a few places because I'm juggling so much right now but, I'm 2 seconds from being back on track. It's funny because I had been applying for a part-time job at almost every damn place since business got slow and I haven't seemed to get any calls back. Maybe, it's a good thing. If I would have found a job my schedule wouldn't be as flexible for my hair clients, I'd probably miss out on money (cash money too), and I damn sure wouldn't be able to do all that I'm doing now. My Blog Talk Radio show is on a roll. You can listen to me every MWF @ 3AM EST.(BlogTalkRadio.com/TheInsomniaHour). I have some interesting interviews coming up. I promise I'm going to try my best to make each show better, and more interesting. I'll actually be getting interviewed on "The F.U. Hour", Monday, August 11 @ 8:30pm EST.... Most importantly I'm happy right now and I love that I can make my own schedule. It's the bomb! Let's just hope this roll remains steady and gets even better so I don't have to keep applying for part-time jobs .

Good Black Movies

I'm sitting here watching Oxygen and "The Best Man" is on. This happens to be one of my favorite movies along with "Love Jones", "The Brothers", "The Wood", "Brown Sugar", and "Love & Basketball". I guess I'm a fan of that old black cast, Nia Long, Morris Chestnut,Larenz Tate, Isaiah Washington, Taye Diggs, Terrance Howard, Sanaa Lathan, Omar Epps, Regina Hall, and Malinda Williams, and Bill Bellamy. All of those movies all came out between 1997-2002. It seems like there hasn't been any good Black movies since, or maybe I'm just missing those same cast members in the same flicks. Now, Tyler Perry is doing his thing. I love the movies that he makes as well as his plays but, yea I'm missing Nia, Larenz , Morris, Taye, Sanaa, and Omar the most. I need somebody to create another film and cast these people. If not I guess I'll be watching my old favorites over and over again. Don't get me wrong I like all types of movies and other actors and actresses besides the ones I mentioned but, it's nothing like seeing an all Black cast. Especially, with the eye candy of Omar, Larenz, Morris, Taye, and Terrance. It's something about Black movies that make me feel warm. I feel like I can relate to at least one of the characters or I feel like I know someone that relates to a few of the characters....BTW, Morgan Freeman was in a horrible accident last night and he's now in serious condition. I hope he recovers because every movie that man has been in has been a banger!I guess I'll go ahead and shout out the rest of my favorite black actors and actresses: Tamala Jones, Taraj P. Henson, Don Cheadle, Jada Pinkett- Smith, Will Smith, Lisa Raye, Essence Atkins, Tracey Ellis Ross, Rachel True, Mos Def, Queen Latifah, Denzel Washington, Angela Bassett, Halle Berry, Wendy Robinson, Forest Whitaker, and a host of other super talented folk!

New Solange: Fuck The Industry

My girl, Solange just released a new track called Fuck the Industry (Signed Sincerely). You can listen here. The song basically talks about how she's not mainstream and she doesn't give a fuck! Anywho, I love Solange (and no I didn't just jump on the bandwagon, I actually went out and bought Solo Star years ago) can't wait til the new album drops.

My Granny's a "G" @ 73

Yesterday was my Granny's 73rd birthday! My mother, my uncle, and I threw her a party. It turned out really nice so I guess all of the running around and stress was worth it. We actually didn't think my Granny would be able to hang at her party because it's only been a week since she's been out of the hospital but, once again she was "a G". She stayed with all of her guests until everyone left. This particular birthday was very special to my Grandmother and all of us because just a few months ago we wasn't sure she would make it because she was diagnosed with kidney cancer. We were very blessed because my grandmother had surgery, and is now recovering like a champ. I can't wait for her see 74 years next year!

14 Mil For Brangelina Baby Pics

Pitt, Jolie A person involved in the negotiations for pictures of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's newborn twins says the rights have fetched $14 million. The person asked not to be named because he was not authorized to release the figure. People magazine scored the photos in a joint deal with the London-based Hello! magazine, and the two will split the bill. (source)

I guess selling pictures is a part of celebrity lifestlye and it doesn't phase many celebrities but, I mean come on. When does the baby and wedding picture selling stop? As far as the children, they have no say. How does anyone know if they want their pictures plastered all over tabloids and magazine covers since they can't speak? Again, I guess this is nothing to celebrities but, is there ever a time when celebs will just say no and vow to have an inch of privacy? I guess Halle is the only one that feels this way. Don't these celebs have enough money? Do they really need to exploit their children for millions of dollars that they already have in the bank? Maybe exploitation is a little far fetched because they're just pictures but, still.

Something's Got To Give

I absolutely do not like posting videos back to back but, I had to post this. I just left my girl, FU's blog and saw this. So thanks to F.U. for putting me up on this! This song is dope and real as hell! Plus, I'm diggin the collabo! Mary J. & Big Boi! Two very hot artists, although I would have liked to heard Andre 3000 on this joint too! Music with substance! I FREAKING LOVE IT!

Slim- So Fly

Now I love me some 112 but, I don't think they're dropping an album anytime soon so Slim will just have to do for now. I love this song!
