Bloggers & National Association of Black Journalist Members

Are you a fan of The Root who wants to attend the UNITY Journalists of Color conference, July 23-27 in Chicago?

We'll be there in force, and we're looking for two bloggers – full of The Root voice, style and depth -- to help us chronicle the big ideas and big fun of the event. The chosen two will be featured prominently throughout the UNITY conference, with a branded blog on The Root. You'll post multiple times a day on the hottest happenings at UNITY, everything from insights on the future of journalism to who did what at the best parties.

We'll even help foot the bill. The Root will cover your registration for the conference and give you $1000 toward your travel and lodging expenses.

Want to get Rooted in UNITY? Send the following to UnityContest@theroot.com:

1) Your name, address, daytime telephone number and email address

2) A link to your blog, plus links to two selected blog entries

3) One sample of your non-blog writing

4) A short essay, not more than 500 words, answering the question: "Where do bloggers fit in the future of black media?"

DEADLINE FOR ENTRY: 5 p.m. EST, July 8, 2008

Applicants must be members of NABJ.

This sounds like a wonderful opportunity and experience. What's funny is I've been wanting to join the NABJ for a very long time now but, I just never did it. It's look like I better become a member real fast if I want to participate in this!

Really? Lucky you. Chicago is my favorite place to visit. I go like 2-3 times a year. Let me know if you get a chance to go.
