The Boondocks Season 2 Episode 14 "Hunger Strikes"

This is the full show that was banned from tv! I don't know if I'm late or not but, I just discovered it so here it is...

An Emotional Moment

I just found out that a friend of mine, Violeta just had her final paper, "Exploring the Afro-Latino Presence: the Panamanian Experience in Michigan" published in Academia. I don't know why but, I always get super excited when friends of mine or people I know make their dreams come true. It also gives me great inspiration to keep pushing to accomplish my goals and such. I'm so happy right now that I can cry. I guess I just love the fact that I have friends who are actually very talented and creative. I'm also kind of repeating what Vio said in her note on Facebook but, I'm glad that I don't just know a bunch of bird brains, sack chasers, skeezers, bumbs, and that sort as friends. Although, my friends are very few. Anyway be on the look out for Vio because she's also a writer for Ill Magazine, Vida Afro Latina, as well as my magazine (whenever i get the funds to publish it :().........Vio I hope you don't mind but, I straight stole your picture from Facebook. I figured that it coincided with the content since you took this in Panama! LOL

Fried Chicken???

I'm Black and I don't eat fried chicken a lot. LOL! I usually eat fried chicken like once every 6 months or so. The grease tends to make me almost throw up. So if you ever come to my house and get lucky you'll taste some of my famous honey baked chicken wings, or other various baked flavors. You will almost never come to my house and catch me frying chicken. I guess I've never really been a fan of the grease popping either.... Now every since a damn trip to Southern Fires w/ my mom, earlier this month I've been pheaning for some fried chicken. If you're from Detroit then you know what's up when it comes to Southern Fires. When my mother and I went I tried their fried chicken for the very first time. I usually always ordered the broasted chicken. I've never in my life tasted such good sweet fried chicken. My left overs that I took home were even still good after putting them in the microwave. Then to top it off, this month I also visited one of my uncles. He happened to order some chicken from the Chicken Shack! It's funny because this again, was my first time ever getting chicken from "The Chicken Shack". I kind of felt a little un-Black and embarrassed that I had never had any before. What do you know, it was hot and good as hell. It was so good that my greedy ass had 4 pieces. These weren't little wing dings either.I'm talking about 2 Thighs, and 2 Legs. So, that was super greedy. I'll admit "The Chicken Shack" wasn't good reheated but, when we first got it and it was smoking hot it was the bomb diggity boom boom! Yes, I had to add boom boom. That's how good it was. Now I haven't had any fried chicken since those two instances but, now I'm pheaning for some. I'm kind of upset because I don't eat fried chicken like that. I'm tryimg to shed a few lbs too but, I don't know. I don't think I'll be satisfied until I find my way back to "The Chicken Shack" or down Jefferson on my way to Southern Fires.

One of My Favorite Artists Too

Amanda Diva is one of my favorite rappers but, she's also one of my favorite artists as well. She gets really dope with the paintbrush. I swear this sista is soooo talented! Check the detail! This picture is a part of an Afro Series, notice the sneakers, subway, fist, and boombox in the afro? This afro is straight New York and I love it! I love the colors too. You can read more about this painting and series on her blog.

The Fembassy

Alright, I think last week I mentioned that I was starting another blog that will be strictly dedicated to female emcees! Well it's officially up and running now! So check it out! Thanks a million to Chimere for contributing!

EYE CANDY...

Now all who has known me since at least high school knows that I use to be madly in love with this man. Then of course the high school celebrity crushes faded as the years went by but, oh baby Nelly most definitely still looks good and even better in my book. I just read @ Necole bitchie's blog that he i the new model for Sean Jean. Get the money! Get the money! Keep posing like this for me honey! LMAO

I'm Stumped

So today was my first day ever riding on a motorcycle (I"m mad I didn't take my camera), compliments of my honey. It's funny because I'm scary as hell and I initially thought I wouldn't get over my fear. Today I put my fear aside and hopped my ass on the Kawasaki Ninja. After a few bumps, my Burtha behind flying in the air, and riding on the side of trucks on the freeway my fear turned to excitement. From about 2-5 the western suburbs it was then off downtown to ride one time around Belle Isle. I had an intermission from about 5 to 9 to take care of family business then it was back on the road until about 11. It was 8 mile to Woodward, then down Jefferson, back to Belle Isle, Greektown, and back down 8 mile, to McDonalds (Thanks idiots for putting cheese on my southern style chicken sandwich, I didn't ask for that shit), then home sweet home. Usually I'm not rolling in the bed until around 5 or 6 but, today is hella different. I know that riding a motorcycle, especially on the back of one doesn't involve any real leg work or exercise but, my ass is truly stumped. The breeze was the bomb and I guess it helped put my insomniac self to sleep. So guess what, I'm out. I wish I had more to post tonight but, I don't.

Home Births Vs. Hospital Births

This past week I had a project on Home Births Vs. Hospital Births. I must say that I learned a lot and this research was extremely interesting! I had no idea that in some states it is an illegal felony for Midwives to assist in births. I'm very upset behind that because that takes away a woman's right to choose how she wants to give birth to her child. Although, I understand that safety is a huge factor but, studies have shown that PLANNED home births for healthy and low-risk pregnant mothers are safe....After doing this research I think that when honey and I decide to have children I'd like to try a home birth at least once if I am healthy and low-risk. I want to try a water birth as well.... I'm not going to say too much in this blog because I'm saving it for my upcoming column but, I will share some awesome links for all who are interested:

I'm Slow Yall

I'm suppose to be working but, I wondered off into the blogosphere and ended up trying to redecorate my blog. As you can see I changed the color scheme. I just discovered the different template options LOL. I never knew that we had choices! I feel like a total retard for just noticing this stuff. I don't know about this new layout though. I think I'm going to change it but, what I really want to find out is how to get page elements on the left and right side of the blog. This right side is getting a little cluttered....I didn't really have time to make any posts Saturday (even though it's still Saturday to me LOL). Sorry, I had a hair client, had to visit my granny, and other writing work to finish....Anyway I'm sure once I finish my work I'll find myself back on here posting something. Much Luv.

I Found Myself Defending Uncle Luke & Porn

Wow. I'm not really trying to put another blogger out there but, after commenting on her post I felt the instant need to blog about this. I found a link regarding Uncle Luke and his new marriage and reality television show. If you don't know who Uncle Luke or if you've forgotten, he's probably considered to be one of the nastiest men in Hip Hop and he's a former member of the group 2 Live Crew....After a few quotes from Luke, a little info on his new wife, and a brief discription of his new reality show, this was said, "I'm supposed to believe that the "Nastiest Man in Hip Hop" is now a straight laced married, family man, even while he still has his adult entertainment business? I mean really, can you look at naked women all day, doing all kind of nasty, naught things and then go home and say, "I love my wife?" And if chicky is so straight-laced why did she marry a guy in the porn industry? I'm shocked. And I will be watching. What about ya'll? Anyone going to tune for what should prove to be one of Vh-!'s most interesting Celebreality shows yet?"
Now this is this blogger's opinions and views and that's fine but, I seem to disagree. I commented on her post by saying this, "You can't judge someone just because they choose to work in the adult entertainment industry. Why does porn have to be nasty when it's just video what people do in their bedrooms all across the world everyday?"

Why can't a man be married or a family man just because he has an ADULT entertainment business? Why can't anybody (male/female) be married and have a family just because they own an adult entertainment business? I'm quite sure that the profits from that business is feeding his family and keeping a roof over their heads. I'm actually not mad at Uncle Luke. I think he's doing what he does best and making a profit. We all have our own talents and things that we are good at. How many of us actually take or use those talents to make money? Not many! I know a whole bunch of people out here who can do things really good and are just sitting on their talents. I seem to think that is silly. Also, his business is for ADULTS. He is an adult. Adults don't stop doing adult things just because they have children. That's actually the way that their children got here! I never thought that I'd say this but, I do believe that a man or woman can look at naked people do so-called (I'm going to use so-called purposely because I don't think that anything done between two CONSENTING adults is nasty-To Each It's Own) nasty things all day and still go home and love their spouses. If you have control, and if you desire to do those so-called "nasty things" with your spouse or partner then you'll be fine. Also, business is business. If Uncle Luke is smart he wouldn't mix business with pleasure.

I don't exactly know what "straight-laced" is but, who says they can't marry someone who just happens to work in the adult entertainment industry? There are a lot of quiet people out here who seem to be what some people call "closet freaks". From her post I also get the idea that just because she's a lawyer she's some type of goody two shoes or something. Are lawyers not suppose to get their freak on or like freaky things or people? LOL

I really think that a lot of people are just very close-minded when it comes to sex, sexuality, and particularly porn. I guess I'll end this post by saying "Don't knock it until you try it". LOL

BTW, I'll be trying to catch a few episodes of this show. I think it'll be quite interesting...

* In no way am I trying to demean this fellow blogger. I actually enjoy reading her blog from time to time but, I just happen to extremely disagree with this particular post and felt the need to voice my full opinion on MY blog*

Yay For M.I.A.

I guess I should have posted this a while ago when I first found out but, my girl M.I.A. was a possible nominee for the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards Best Female Video category. Today is the day when they'll announce exactly which videos made the cut, so I hope my girl made it!

Mr. Mayor, What's Really Good?

I guess the behavior of Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick never ceases to amaze me. What do you know ? I go to the Detroit Free Press' website this morning to find out that Kwame may possibly be facing more charges! WTF? According to the Free Press article the Michigan State Police are currently investigating whether Kwame assaulted a deputy that tried to serve a subpoena at his sister's house yesterday. If he in fact did assault this deputy, it means that he will have violated his bond. Now we all love our syblings and we don't ever want to see them get in trouble but, right now Mr. mayor has enough problems of his own. I can't believe that he would lose control and pull a stupid move such as assaulting an officer. Then again, it's being investigated so we don't actually know if it's true yet. I'm quite sure that they'd love to slap more charges on this man. Even though I think Kwame is an asshole, I bet the officer decided to be an asshole and go instigate some shit! So, we'll see how this pans out. (source)

Great News...

At first when we learned of my grandmother's kidney cancer I was so depressed and scared. It wasn't until last week when one of her doctors explained to us her options that I felt good about the situation. We were aware that in most cases kidney cancer is fatal but, for some reason I just felt positive. I'm very happy that it has been positive so far. My grandmother seems to be recovering well from her surgery. Today, or yesterday technically since it's like 4 in the morning my grandmother got out of bed and walked up and down the hallway after complaining of being in so much pain. Initially we were told that she'll be able to come home Monday but, today her doctor said because she seems to be doing so well she may be able to come home early. The doctor was saying that my Grandmother overcame this really well. The cancer didn't spread at all so that was great. Instead of just removing the cancer from her kidney they actually took the whole kidney so chances are very high that the cancer won't come back again. Therefore she won't be needing any chemotherapy. Real talk, in the past few months I have totally watched my grandmother be a fucking soldier. My Granny is usually a really scary person but, I think cancer actually gave her a new attitude. Last week she was at Cedar Point riding every damn ride there was, this week she had surgery, and I'm quite sure that once she's out of the hospital she'll continue to be one of the coolest Grannys on earth.

Besides the good news with my Granny I just did my second segment of my blog talk radio show today. I think it was a little bit better than the first test show, simply because I wasn't sort of forced off air. Critiquing myself though, I need to definitely work on refraining from saying um on the air. That should never be said on air but, I seemed to have said it a million times as well as you know, and yall. Dang! My show today was filled with a lot of stereotypical phrases LOL but, it's alright I'm still learning. I did say that my blog talk radio show is also practice for me to actually become a radio personality sometime during my career. I've always wanted to be on Hot 97 one day... I'm still looking for a co-host. A few people have talked to me and said they have interest but, no commitments. So, I'm going to get back with everybody before this weekend is over and see who wants to do it for sure. The next show is actually tomorrow night. I'm ready to get the hang of this and freakin blow blog talk radio out of the water LOL. I also have some really good interviews that will be aired on the show. I do apologize too for not keeping you updated about the 7 Days, 7 Interviews but, I've decided to actually do the remainder of the interviews on the radio show. I'll still post a few transcripts here but, I definitely will have those interviews on air.
